Checking out the bit between departure and arrival. I hope I never get there.
This is a journal more than a blog.
Very self-centred. It is written for some future me. I am not looking for a following. You may read it. Please comment, but please don't judge. I write about what interests me, concerns me, and a bit about what happens to me. I hope some of it interests or entertains you.I should probably have titled this blog "Shit Happens". Because it does.
Sometimes I quote a song or some poetry, either just because I really like it, or because it expresses something I cannot put as eloquently into my own words. Occasionally i am brave enough to publish one of my own.

Halls Creek Sitrep One
Friday marked the end of my third week in Halls Creek. I am settling in at home though I still have some unpacking and putting away to do. Slowly getting into the job. Despite this not being the ideal time of … Continue reading

The Long Ride Pt2
I was so exhausted when I arrived in Port Hedland on Sunday evening that I knew I had to do something. I seriously considered abandoning the bike and finding some other way to get to Hall’s Creek. That silly thought … Continue reading

In Praise of Tea
In the first week of June I pinched a nerve in my back while pulling water samples up from one of the monitoring bores. I was fine for a few days, just a bit sore, then suddenly I had shooting … Continue reading
The Heat Goes On
The day began this morning with a cloud-filled sky. The air was pleasantly cool and the breeze carried a hesitant promise of rain. I was sure I felt a slight touch of moisture on my cheek, as light and as … Continue reading
The Great Career Limiting Move
A year ago today, I wrote of the Australia Day Breakfast, and that it did not have my official sanction. I am pleased to report that this year the event is authorised by a permit issued with my signature, and … Continue reading

Aesop Reviewed
I chose at random a fable by Aesop, to see if the moral it presents has stood the test of time. Commentary: The moral seems to be a valid one, but on closer examination, the example given is so literally … Continue reading

A Moment of Clarity
I was still feeling a little off yesterday evening, despite the exhilarating ride to Rocky Gully and back. I had enjoyed the steak sandwich I had there. It had come with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and beetroot. Despite an active day, … Continue reading

Arms and the Man
Dad asked if riding to Bindoon and back was an indication that my arm is better. Sadly, no. It is just as dysfunctional as ever, and will remain so until the muscle is reattached. It is mere good fortune that … Continue reading
