Wild Mountain Thyme

 Wild Mountain Thyme

O the summer time has come
All the hills are sweetly blooming
And the wild mountain thyme
All the moorlands are perfuming.
Will you go, lassie, go?

And we’ll all go together,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?

I shall build my love a bower,
By yon clear, crystal fountain,
And in it I shall pile,
All the flowers of the mountain.
Will you go, lassie, go?

And we’ll all go together,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?

I will range through all the wilds
And the glens so deep and dreary
I’ll return with all my spoils
To the bower of my dearie.
Will ye go lassie go?

And we’ll all go together,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?

If my true love will not come,
Then I’ll surely find another,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?

And we’ll all go together,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?

Oh, the autumn time is coming
And the leaves will soon be falling
And the blossoms of the summer
Shall soon wither on the mountain
Will ye go, lassie, go?

And we’ll all go together,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?

When the winter rules again
And the wind raves round our dwelling
We shall sit beside the fire,
Rememb’ring purple hillsides blooming.
Will ye go, lassie, go?,

And we’ll all go together,
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
