Frog at Bay.

The frogs are fascinating. I only ever see two or three at any particular time, but there is one that lives in the bay tree.  The little yellow one that is different from the rest.  (S)He disappears now and then, and returns with a full stomach and sits all day on a bay leaf, digesting whatever insects or gastropods (s)he has been eating.  It is not bothered when I come close and say hello, or photograph it, so it has become my favourite.

I sit out every evening with my chai latte and over a period see frogs arrive in shifts. They come from various directions.  One lives in the cupboard area under the barbecue, another in the garage, one in the pipe from the bathroom floor drain, the others seem to occupy the little froggy apartments I made from pipes and rocks and things and placed under the pond and in or behind the pot plants. I saw one coming back from the compost heap last night, I think it had been hunting over there.  There seem to be no snails around anymore.

Update:

3 am and an odd noise outside my window. Tactical torch in hand I go to check. Frogs everywhere. A veritable frog family gathering on the windowsill, and another frog high up on the horizontal part of the roof water downpipe. It seems to be insektenfest.

Looking down from the roof; overseeing the party, is a pair of possums.

About Uisce úr

Though I am old with wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone, And kiss her lips and take her hands; And walk among long dappled grass, And pluck till time and times are done, The silver apples of the moon, The golden apples of the sun.

When they get together would you say their meetings are a tad political or do they come to just meet-a -morphodite.
