Advanced Technology

1960.

Mum had a new Bernina Sewing machine.

I came home from Billy Smith’s place one day and told her that Billy’s mum had a better one.   Mrs Smith’s sewing machine did not need electricity.    They had very cleverly invented a treadle for it, so you did not need to plug it in.

About Uisce úr

Though I am old with wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone, And kiss her lips and take her hands; And walk among long dappled grass, And pluck till time and times are done, The silver apples of the moon, The golden apples of the sun.
