1350 hrs, Sunday.  Phone rings.

“There are kids on dirt bikes next door riding round making noise”.

“The Noise Control Act is mainly about controlling unreasonable noise at unreasonable hours. I don’t think I can help you much at this time of day”.

“What even in a residential zone?”  Tone very aggrieved.

“Especially in a residential zone”.

“Well that is just unreasonable”.

“Look, do you mow your lawns?”

“Of course!”

“That is pretty noisy, I bet it interferes with listening to TV”.

“I have to mow the grass!”

“Of course you do, during the day I hope.   If you did it at two o’clock in the morning it might be considered unreasonable’.

“That’s just not good enough!”

“I think it’s reasonable”.

About Uisce úr

Though I am old with wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone, And kiss her lips and take her hands; And walk among long dappled grass, And pluck till time and times are done, The silver apples of the moon, The golden apples of the sun.
