Flotsam and Jetsam

I have been photographing rubbish, and its proximity to wildlife and nature.  Fiji is a great place to do this, and it appears to me that Fijians are among the most ignorant and uncaring litterers and polluters in the Pacific.  When I think back to Palau, and the pristine waters I saw everywhere, even in front of the sewage plant, and compare what i experienced there to the public beaches here. I feel like weeping.  Foam food containers, cups, bottles, plastic bags, disposable nappies, ice cream containers, items of clothing, crap.  Really.  You can smell it along the estuaries.  No one cares.  Even when there is a rubbish bin nearby, as there is in the park across the road from my home, the rubbish is strewn on the ground and in the bay.

About Uisce úr

Though I am old with wandering Through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone, And kiss her lips and take her hands; And walk among long dappled grass, And pluck till time and times are done, The silver apples of the moon, The golden apples of the sun.
